Haa Valley

The Haa Valley is approx 2hrs drive from Paro.  It wasn't open to tourists until 2001 and still retains it's simple nature.  Yaks are raised in this area and can often be seen wandering the roadsides.

The road to Cheli la Pass drives through a forest of blue pine, fir and oak.  and then through some alpine countryside.  The pass (3810m) is covered with prayers flags

It is a wide fertile valley where the main crops are wheat, potatoes, barley & millet.
