Taktshang - Tigers Nest

A short drive from Paro, set high in a cliff face, is  Bhutan's most famous monastery Taktshang (Tigers Nest),  named because in 746 AD Guru Rinpoche flew on the back of a tigress to the holy cave around which the monastery is built.

The walk to the monstery takes 2 - 3 hrs.  There is a cafeteria half way.  It is possible to hire horses to ride half way up.
